Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission. However, there are some exceptions.
Exceptions include:
- Child abuse or neglect, elder abuse or neglect or suspician of child abuse/neglect and suspician of elder abuse/neglect of which I am required by law to report immediately.
- If the client is having a medical emergency.
- If I think the client is going to hurt himself or herself. In such a case I will make every effort to enlist the cooperation of the client for his or her safety. If the client does not cooperate, I will take futher measures without their permission in order to secure their safety.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim(s).
- If I am court ordered.
